Snoopy Rubber Stamps for Cards, Crafts and Classrooms

Snoopy Rubber Stamps for Cards, Crafts and Classrooms
Quick Answer: Snoopy stamps come in four main styles: wood-mounted rubber stamps (from makers like Stampabilities and Rubber Stampede), clear vinyl stamps on acrylic blocks, self-inking mini stamps, and the occasional rolling stamp for borders. Most cost $10–$20. Retired wood-mounted designs are the most collectible. Self-inkers are the easiest choice for kids and teachers.

Rubber stamps are one of the least-known corners of Peanuts collecting, and one of the most useful. One Snoopy stamp can go on a hundred holiday cards, gift tags, envelopes and scrapbook pages. Many of the best designs have been retired by their makers, which is why crafters and collectors look for them. With card-making season starting, here's how to choose the right type.

The main types of Snoopy stamps

Wood-mounted rubber stamps

This is the classic format: red rubber mounted on a wooden block, with the design printed on top so you know which way is up. Our rubber and vinyl stamps collection has a deep run of Stampabilities designs. Examples include the Flying Ace "Curse You, Red Baron!" (2.5 inches), the WWI Flying Ace, Smiling Snoopy, Laughing Snoopy ("HA HA HA", with Woodstock), Snoopy Begging, Schroeder, Charlie Brown, and the Snoopy and Woodstock Hug stamp with "The Sun Is Shining! It's A Brand New Day, And I'm Alive!!" We also carry Rubber Stampede designs marked RETIRED, such as Lucy, Schroeder, Charlie Brown's Portrait and Joe Cool Skateboarding.

Remounted vintage stamps

Some listings say "New Remounted" or "Used/Like New, Remounted." That means the original vintage rubber was moved onto a new wood block, usually because the old mount was worn or damaged. The image is the original. Only the block is new. Remounted stamps are an affordable way to own a retired design.

Clear vinyl stamps on acrylic blocks

Clear stamps let you see exactly where you're placing the image, which helps when lining up a scene or a border. Our Peanuts clear stamps, many of them made by Kodomo no Kao, come mounted on a thick acrylic block. The vinyl is as flexible as rubber and cleans up fast, so you can switch ink colors quickly. Themes include Winter Sports, Snoopy Personas, Beach, Snoopy Baker, "A Cup Of Woodstocks", character sets of Lucy, Linus, Sally and Charlie Brown, and a large 5-inch two-piece Lucy Psychiatric Help 5¢ booth.

Self-inking mini stamps

Self-inking stamps have the ink built in, so there's no pad and less mess. That makes them the best choice for kids, classrooms and quick notes. Choices include Kodomo no Kao's Snoopy self-inking mini stamps ($4.95 each) and a Kawaii two-piece Snoopy self-inking stamp that comes with a free refill bottle of ink.

Rolling stamps

A rolling stamp prints a repeating strip as you roll it, which is ideal for borders and wrapping paper. The rare Beagle Scout rolling stamp prints a series of images of Schroeder at his piano while Snoopy dances.

Message stamps for teachers

Peanuts message stamps have been a classroom staple for years. Look for "Great Effort", "Keep Up The Good Work", "Superstar Performance" and "Happy Day", the small Snoopy Rewards stamp, and the Peanuts message stamp set. Pair them with Snoopy's vintage mini encouragement reward cards from our cards and note sets.

What to make with Snoopy stamps

  • Holiday cards. Stamp Snoopy in black ink, then color him in with markers or colored pencils. Starting in October leaves time to finish a full batch before December mailing.
  • Gift tags and envelopes. Even a single Woodstock in the corner of an envelope makes plain mail more fun.
  • Scrapbook pages. Combine stamped images with dimensional stickers and page kits from our scrapbook paper and embellishments. Choices include an EK Success Christmas Doghouse sticker set and a Eureka Halloween page kit.
  • Classroom rewards. Message stamps on homework and reading logs. Self-inkers make it quick to do a whole class.
  • Kids' crafts. Self-inking stamps with Peanuts kids' crafts and craft kits, like the 3-D Snoopy's Christmas Doghouse kit.

Ink tips

  • Dye ink dries fast and gives crisp lines on paper, so it's a good everyday choice for cards.
  • Pigment ink is richer and dries more slowly. Use it for bold color, heat embossing, or dark cardstock.
  • To color with alcohol markers, stamp with an ink labeled as compatible with them, or the lines may smear.
  • Clear stamps need even pressure. Press straight down on the acrylic block without rocking it.

Caring for vintage rubber stamps

  • Clean right after use with stamp cleaner or a damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh solvents on old rubber, which can dry it out.
  • Store stamps flat, rubber side down, away from sunlight and heat. Old rubber can harden and crack when it bakes.
  • Check used stamps for cracks in the rubber and a firm bond to the block. Our used stamps state their condition in the title, for example "Used/MINT CONDITION (thoroughly cleaned)".

Collecting rather than crafting? Retired Stampabilities and Rubber Stampede Peanuts designs with crisp rubber and clean wood blocks are the ones to look for. The © UFS mark on the block is a good sign of an older stamp.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between rubber and clear vinyl Snoopy stamps?
Wood-mounted rubber stamps give crisp, detailed impressions, and the wooden block shows the design on top. Clear vinyl stamps on acrylic blocks are see-through, so they're easier to place exactly where you want. They also clean up faster, which helps when you're switching ink colors.
Are vintage Snoopy rubber stamps still usable?
Yes, if the rubber is still flexible and free of cracks. Many retired Stampabilities and Rubber Stampede Peanuts stamps print as well as new ones. Used stamps at snoopn4pnuts.com have their condition stated in the title.
What does remounted mean on a rubber stamp?
A remounted stamp has its original rubber image moved onto a new wood block, usually because the old block was worn or damaged. The image is the original vintage design. Only the mount is new.
What ink should I use with Snoopy stamps?
Dye ink is a good all-purpose choice for paper cards. Pigment ink gives richer color and works for heat embossing and dark cardstock. If you plan to color with alcohol markers, use an ink labeled as compatible with them.
Which Snoopy stamps are best for teachers?
Peanuts message stamps such as Great Effort, Keep Up The Good Work and Superstar Performance, the Snoopy Rewards stamp, and self-inking mini stamps, which are quick to use across a whole class.
Are Snoopy stamps good for kids?
Self-inking Snoopy stamps are the easiest choice for kids because there's no separate ink pad. Older children can move on to clear stamps with a washable ink pad. On the 20th of each month, code SNOOPY20 takes 20% off.
