Snoopy Plush Dolls: Vintage & New Stuffed Snoopy, Woodstock and the Peanuts Gang

Snoopy Plush Dolls: Vintage & New Stuffed Snoopy, Woodstock and the Peanuts Gang
Quick Answer: Snoopy plush dolls fall into two groups. Newer plush (Hallmark seasonal dolls, Camp Snoopy, Met Life promotional plush, Ty bean bags) mostly costs about $10–$35. Vintage plush from makers such as Determined Productions, Applause, Ideal Toy Co. and Butterfly Originals is bought mainly on condition. Every listing at snoopn4pnuts.com states the size and an honest condition grade, from NEW WITH TAGS to GOOD CONDITION with flaws described.

A soft Snoopy is often the first Peanuts thing a person owns. Plenty of collectors started with a plush beagle from a birthday or a hospital gift shop. The category is also bigger than most shoppers expect: Snoopy plush has been made by dozens of companies over the decades, in sizes from a 4-inch bean bag to dolls taller than 20 inches. This guide covers each type and what it usually costs, then explains how to read a condition description before you buy.

The main types of Snoopy plush

Classic stuffed plush (8–15 inches)

This is the Snoopy most people picture: soft, white, black ears, sitting up. Current examples in our plush & stuffed dolls collection include the 12-inch Camp Snoopy dolls of Linus, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Joe Cool, a 9-inch Daisy Hill Puppies Snoopy by Determined (new with tags), and the Applause Snoopy Hugs Woodstock set, where Velcro paws let Snoopy hold Woodstock.

Hallmark seasonal plush

Hallmark has produced a long run of holiday Snoopy and Woodstock plush, and they're popular because you can bring a new one out for each season. Our Hallmark plush collection currently includes a 14-inch Halloween Snoopy holding a pumpkin, a 15-inch Snoopy Snowman, a 14-inch Snoopy Santa, a 15-inch Easter Bunny Snoopy, and smaller 7–8-inch Woodstocks dressed as an elf, a devil, Cupid, or bundled up in earmuffs and a scarf. Most are new with tags.

Bean bag dolls (4–9 inches)

Bean bag dolls are floppy, pocket-sized and easy to display in a row. Look for the Ty Woodstock musical bean bag, which plays the "Linus and Lucy" theme when you squeeze its belly. Butterfly Originals made vintage bean bags too, including a sleeping Snoopy, and Applause made Charlie Brown and Santa Snoopy versions.

Pillow dolls and mini mascot ornaments

Pillow dolls are flat, printed cloth dolls, a classic 1970s–80s format. Determined's 4–4.75-inch mini mascot pillow dolls of Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy and Charlie Brown come with a hanging string, so they also work as Christmas tree ornaments. Several are still new and sealed.

Vintage rag dolls and fabric-covered dolls

For many vintage collectors, the rag dolls and fabric-covered dolls are the high point of the plush category. They include Ideal Toy Co. rag dolls of Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown (8 inches, with some large 14–15-inch versions) and Determined's 12–13-inch fabric-covered dolls, which have tricot bodies, yarn hair and cotton clothes. Some of the Determined dolls come with an adjustable acrylic display stand. Peppermint Patty and Belle appear here too, which is rare for plush.

Promotional and fast-food plush

MetLife used Snoopy in its advertising for about three decades, and the insurer's giveaway plush is now a collecting niche of its own. Current examples include Pirate Snoopy, Track Star Snoopy, and two-piece sets with Snoopy in a kayak or a blimp. See the Met Life dolls collection. Fast-food premiums are the most affordable entry point, such as a 2008 Wendy's Woodstock backpack clip-on for $6.95.

Animated, musical and sound plush

These include the Hallmark Bell Ringer Snoopy, which moves its arms to ring a bell, the Hallmark Kissing Bandit, which makes a kissing sound when you squeeze its ear, and the 14-inch Irwin Laughing Snoopy, still in its box. They're fun to own, but read the title before you buy: sound and music units in older plush often stop working, and we say so when they have.

Vintage or new: which should you buy?

For a young child, choose newer plush made as a toy, and check the listing for small attached parts. Vintage plush with plastic sunglasses, vinyl collars, sound boxes or display stands is better kept for display.

For a collector, the maker and the condition matter most. Check for a sewn-in fabric tag and, on boxed or carded pieces, the original paper hang tag. Older Peanuts plush usually carries a © United Feature Syndicate copyright line, and newer pieces credit Peanuts Worldwide. A vintage Determined or Ideal doll in mint condition with its tag is a very different item from the same doll after years of play.

For a nostalgic gift, look for the doll the person remembers. That might be a 1970s pillow doll, a Camp Snoopy doll from a theme-park trip, or a MetLife Snoopy from the days of the blimp.

How we describe condition

Every plush listing in our shop includes a condition grade, and the title calls out any flaw that matters:

  • NEW WITH TAGS: unused, with the original paper product tag attached.
  • NEW / NEW-SEALED: unused. "Sealed" means still in the original bag or package.
  • MINT: looks new, but the paper tag is missing (the listing says "no paper product tag").
  • NEAR MINT: a very small flaw, such as a tiny light spot, which the listing describes.
  • GOOD / FAIR CONDITION: visible wear such as marks, fading or staining, described in detail and priced to match.

You'll also see notes such as "New But No Longer Plays Music" or "Sound No Longer Works". We put those in the title, not buried in the description, so you know what you're getting before you add it to your cart.

How to care for Snoopy plush

  • Spot-clean, don't machine-wash vintage plush or anything with a sound or music unit. Use a damp cloth with a little mild soap, then let it air-dry.
  • Keep it out of direct sunlight. White fur yellows and printed details fade faster than you'd expect.
  • Dust gently with a soft brush, or vacuum on low suction through a piece of mesh.
  • Store it somewhere that breathes, such as a cotton bag or an acid-free box in a cool, dry room, rather than sealed plastic for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Snoopy plush for a gift?
For most gifts, a new 8–14 inch plush is the safest choice. Hallmark seasonal Snoopy plush and the 12-inch Camp Snoopy dolls are good examples. For a collector, choose a vintage piece in the best condition you can afford, such as a Determined Productions or Ideal Toy Co. doll graded mint or new with tags.
How can I tell if a Snoopy plush doll is vintage?
Check the sewn-in fabric tag. Older Peanuts plush usually carries a United Feature Syndicate copyright line and the maker's name, such as Determined Productions, Applause, Ideal or Butterfly Originals, while newer plush credits Peanuts Worldwide. Construction is another clue: flat printed pillow dolls, tricot fabric-covered dolls and yarn hair are typical of older pieces.
Can I wash a Snoopy plush doll?
Don't machine-wash vintage plush or any plush with a sound or music unit. Spot-clean it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air-dry away from heat and direct sunlight.
Why do some Snoopy plush listings say the music no longer works?
Sound and music units in older plush often stop working over time. When that has happened, snoopn4pnuts.com puts it in the product title, for example New But No Longer Plays Music, so you know before you buy.
What sizes do Snoopy plush dolls come in?
They range from 4-inch mini bean bags and clip-ons up to large dolls of 14–17 inches, and a few vintage marshmallow-style dolls reach about 21 inches. Every listing at snoopn4pnuts.com gives the measured size.
Do you sell Woodstock, Charlie Brown and Lucy plush too?
Yes. The plush collections include Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Marcie and other Peanuts characters in new and vintage versions. On the 20th of each month, code SNOOPY20 takes 20% off.
